【春分の日】について（祝日）
春分の日は、日本の国民の祝日の一つであり、祝日法により天文観測による春分が起こる春分日が選定され休日とされる。1年のうちで昼夜の長さがほぼ同じになる日のことで、3月20日か3月21日のいずれかになります。しばしば昼が長くなって「昼と夜の長さが等しくなる日」といわれるが、実際は昼の方が少し長いようです。
また、春分の日は二十四節気（にじゅうしせっき）の一つです。二十四節気とは、1年を地球から見た太陽の位置で24等分し、そのそれぞれで名前を付けたものです。夏至や冬至、秋分、立春、立秋もこれに当たります。

何故祝日になるの⁈ Why are the Spring Equinox Day
夏至や冬至は祝日ではないのに、春分の日や秋分の日はなぜ国民の祝日なのでしょうか？それは、歴史的に春分の日や秋分の日に宮中祭祀が執り行われてきたことと関係があると言われている様です。
春分には「春季皇霊祭」、秋分には「秋季皇霊祭」という宮中の儀式が行われてきました。そのため、国民の祝日として制定されることになりました。1948年に「国民の祝日に関する法律」によって祝日に制定されたとの事でした。春分の日は「自然をたたえ、生物をいつくしむ」日として、また秋分の日は「祖先をうやまい、亡くなった人々をしのぶ」日として記載されています。
もともとこの時期はお彼岸でもあり、ご先祖を祭り感謝してきた風習があります。季節の変わり目に、春は五穀豊穣を祈り、秋は収穫に感謝する行事が行われてきたのは、日本で育まれた風土と言えますね。
春分の日や秋分の日はお彼岸の中日。お彼岸にお墓参りへ行ってご先祖様を供養したり感謝するのは日本特有の風習。お彼岸は春分の日（秋分の日）を中日にして7日間となります。
