松の内の終わりの日（一般的に）the last day of Matsunouchi (generally)

一般的には1月7日【一般的及び関東地域】は「松の内」にお正月飾りを外すようです。関西人の私、はじめ早くない⁈記憶では確かどんと焼きの1月15日まで飾られていたと思い調べてみると、一般的には1月7日を松の内とする習慣が定着したようです。また、鏡開きの1月11日にお正月飾りを外す地域もあるようです。

Generally, on January 7th [General and Kanto area], New Year’s decorations will be removed from Matsunouchi.As a Kansai person, I am not early at first ⁈ As I remember, it was decorated until January 15th when it was grilled, so I looked it up and found that the custom of making January 7th Matsunouchi has taken root. Also, it seems that there are some areas where New Year’s decorations are removed on January 11th when the kagami-biraki is opened.

正月飾り（しめ飾り）の由来

しめ縄は、神様が降りた神聖な場所を示すもので、これが張ってあるところには、不浄のものや悪霊は入れないとされていて、一種の防御壁・魔除けの役割も果たしている。しめ縄飾りを玄関に飾るのは、ここが歳神様を迎える家だということを表すためだと言われている。

A shimenawa indicates a sacred place where a god descended, and where it is stretched, it is said that unclean things and evil spirits are not allowed to enter, and it also serves as a kind of defense wall and a charm against evil spirits. It is said that the reason why shimenawa decorations are displayed at the entrance is to show that this is the house that welcomes the god of the year.
